Pianist Alasdair Beatson will coach the Lipatti Piano Quartet as part of the group’s new study programme at ChamberStudio, with the first public masterclass on 19th October at Kings Place. After an Initial Session and discussion with Artistic Director Richard Ireland, the group chose to work with Alasdair, who performs as both a soloist and chamber music collaborator across Europe and is a regular at Wigmore Hall.
Richard Ireland explained the qualities that Alasdair will bring to coaching the group: ‘His playing is particularly sensitive and detailed, and he gives a great deal of care and integrity in reading and interpreting the score. The Lipattis and I felt these qualities would be an ideal influence for them at the moment.’ The group will work on Beethoven’s Piano Quartet in E flat major op.16 and Fauré’s Piano Quartet no.2 in G minor with him.
Later in the year, on 4th December, the Lipatti Piano Quartet will have a session with violinist and faculty member Krysia Ostostowicz. The new ChamberStudio system allows groups to customise their training fully in this way, selecting specific coaches and the number of sessions they feel they need to work towards specific repertoire or artistic goals and development. To enrol in the scheme in time for the first sessions of 2016, apply here by 31st October. If you are interested in watching one of our free public masterclasses, visit our Calendar.
