Formed in October 2007, the Lakeside Trio has given numerous concerts throughout the UK – in London, Hampshire, Surrey, the Lake District and Scotland, but has also performed in Austria and Switzerland. In May 2008 it was selected to participate in the Tunnell Trust’s ‘Showcase for Young Musicians’ course where 5 selected chamber groups attended lessons and performed in concerts. Since then it has been awarded scholarships to attend masterclasses with maestri Ferenc Rados, András Keller, Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Marta Gulyás,… The Trio has been semi-finalist in major international competitions, and a prize-winner at the Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach (Austria), has won the Guildhall’s Ivan Sutton Prize for Chamber Music, and has been awarded a concert in the Park Lane Group’s 2011 series of concerts at the Southbank Centre. Much as the repertoire is built on works of the past great composers, the Trio is also keen to work in partnership with contemporary composers and has commissioned two works from the Spanish composer Oscar Colomina i Bosch and worked with several other living composers for their recent Park Lane Group concert in the Purcell Room. Currently the Lakeside Trio holds the position of Artists in Residence at the Jersey Academy of Music, where series of concerts and masterclasses are given throughout the year.
