ANTHONY MARWOOD combines his love of chamber music with regular appearances as soloist with orchestras around the world. Current and forthcoming engagements include concertos with the Boston Symphony, the St Louis Symphony, the BBC Scottish Symphony, the BBC Symphony, Collegium Musicum Winterthur, the Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra and the Sydney Symphony. Conductors he has worked with include Valery Gergiev, Richard Hickox, Thomas Ades, David Robertson, Douglas Boyd, Sir Andrew Davis, Marin Alsop and Yan Pascal Tortelier. As director/soloist he appears with Les Violons du Roy in Quebec, the Scottish Ensemble, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne. With the pianist Aleksander Madzar he recently completed a three-concert recital series at the Wigmore Hall. They have also just recorded the complete Brahms and Schumann sonatas for the Wigmore Hall Live label ; next year they will tour the USA and Australia. He is a frequent guest at festivals : upcoming invitations include Yellow Barn (USA), Helsinki Spring Light, Stavanger, Trondheim, Resonances (Belgium), Delft and Huntington (Australia). Anthony is a Hyperion artist and this year records two concerto CDs – Britten and Schumann. He is violinist of the Florestan Trio, which celebrates its final season this year and from 2006-11 was the Artistic Director of the Irish Chamber Orchestra. In 2006 he was named Instrumentalist of the Year by the Royal Philharmonic Society.
