The Ristov piano Quartet was set up in September 2009 by four graduates of the Royal College of Music, London. An international ensemble – its players come from France, Macedonia and the Netherlands, the quartet has already been attracting recognition across Europe. Since their first concert at the National Gallery, London, this innovative ensemble has perfomed at the Het Jagthuis Concert Hall in Holland and in the south of France, where they have been reinvited to play. They have a busy schedule ahead of them already, with future engagements in England, Wales, Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia and at the festival Musique en Ré on the Île de Ré next summer.
The group has received tuition from prominent musicians such as Caroline Palmer (Guildhall School of Music and Drama) and Jon Thorne (Badke Quartet). They recently received a substantial scholarship to study at the West Coast School of Chamber Music in summer 2010 with the Archduke Trio of London; Simon Lebens, Nicola Thomas and Philippa Ibbotson. In addition they took part in masterclasses with Gary Hoffman, Anner Bylsma and Natalie Clein with whom they will continue their studies.
The players’ shared passion for chamber music leads them to explore the existing repertoire for this formation, be it celebrated masterpieces or less well-known works. By programming quartets scarcely heard on the concert platform today, they are hoping to bring unknown gems to life whilst making up cutting-edge innovative recitals.
