Hans Keller Forum

Helping College-Level Ensembles Thrive

If you’re an existing ensemble at a college or conservatoire, the Hans Keller Forum offers an intensive, year-long mentorship experience designed to sharpen your ensemble skills, boost your confidence, and help you build a professional profile in chamber music.

HKF runs as an annual cycle of three immersive 3-day residential courses, each taking place in Cambridge just before a new academic term. During each residency, your group will enjoy:

  • Expert Coaching: 7.5 hours of dedicated coaching delivered in two 75-minute sessions each day by distinguished mentors.
  • Focused Rehearsal Time: Benefit from a minimum of 7.5 hours of scheduled rehearsal time in your own dedicated studio.
  • Public Engagement: An afternoon session of open masterclasses and rehearsals, giving you the chance to showcase your progress and engage with a wider audience.

Hans Keller Forum is ideal for pre-formed chamber ensembles from UK conservatoires. Four groups are selected annually from up to 16 nominations—each recommended by their institution for demonstrating exceptional chemistry, commitment, and potential. This programme is crafted to help you transition confidently into a professional chamber music career.

Each January residency features an inspiring guest lecture that deepens your understanding of chamber music. Plus, with working with an Artist in Residence, you’ll be inspired by a rare, behind-the-scenes look at different creative processes.

£150 per musician per residency

Each year, UK conservatoires nominate two groups for participation. If you’re ready to elevate your ensemble and thrive in the world of chamber music, ask your Head of Department to nominate you to Donald Grant, our Artistic Director

Hans Keller Forum is generously funded by the Cosman Keller Art and Music Trust, the Albert and Eugenie Frost Trust, and Philip Carne.
