Step inside Chamber Studio’s masterclasses and hear the next generation of chamber musicians at work.
Five ensembles — Idalia Quartet, KRIUS Quartet, Trio Rossetti, Voluta Quartet and Waverley Quartet — will work with cellist Alice Neary and pianist Sophia Rahman, as well as Chamber Studio’s own Donald Grant, giving you a unique window into how ideas take shape, interpretation evolves, and music comes to life.
These open sessions are free to attend, so come and experience the excitement of chamber music in its raw, creative form, and support the musicians who will shape its future. Spaces are limited, so book your tickets in advance. The afternoon will be split into two sessions: 13.30-14.45 & 14.45-16.00, each session providing a different combination of ensembles and mentors.

The KRIUS Quartet was formed at the Royal Academy of Music in 2023. Since then, the KRIUS have been awarded 1st prize in the Wolfe Wolfinsohn Award at the Royal Academy, played in the Nina Drucker Haydn Prize Final and have played at venues and festivals in and around London.
They have also benefitted from masterclasses and coaching from Jon Thorne, Christoph Richter, Lawrence Power, So-Ock Kim, and study days with the Barbican Quartet, the Fibonacci Quartet, and also the Doric Quartet.
They are a group passionate about performing music from all genres and hope to share that with their audiences.
The award-winning Voluta Quartet is a vibrant, Manchester-based string ensemble formed from graduates of the Royal Northern College of Music. As recent appointees of the RNCM Studio Quartet 2026/27, the ensemble has claimed first prize in both the RNCM Hirsch and Weil Chamber Prizes as well as being finalists in the Chris Rowland Prize. They have recorded new composition with Royal Northern Records 2026 and been coached by some of the world’s leading chamber musicians and ensembles to perform regularly around Greater Manchester. They are looking forward to continuing an exciting concert season around the UK in 2026/27.
Composed of three scholars from the RCM, Trio Rossetti formed in 2024, making their debut at the RCM’s chamber concert series with Brahms’ 1st Piano Trio in B major. Following this initial performance, they were awarded the Anglo-Austrian Society’s 2025 chamber music award, which included an exchange project with the Mozarteum University.
They have since attended the Budapest Festival Academy where they worked alongside renowned soloists such as Barnabas Keleman, Maxim Rysanov and Boris Brovstyn.
Throughout the Anglo-Austrian project of November 2025, they gave recitals in venues such as The Austrian Embassy (London), the Wiener Saal (Mozarteum, Salzburg), the Warburg Institute (London), as well as performances at the Royal College of Music. Last year the trio won first prize at the CAVATINA Intercollegiate Chamber Music Competition at Wigmore Hall.
The Waverley Quartet was founded in September 2024 at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. They have received extensive mentoring by Alison Wells and Donnie Deacon, as well as guidance from David Watkin and Andrea Gajic. Since their formation, the Waverley Quartet have been invited to perform numerous times including in the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Mondays at One concert series and in the 2025 RCS Strings Festival, where they also received guidance from members of the Brodsky Quartet. The Waverley Quartet had the opportunity to play in Wigmore Hall as part of the CAVATINA Chamber Music Competition.
Formed in 2022, the Idalia Quartet are generously supported by the RAM Advanced Specialist String Ensemble Training Scheme and are mentored by Alex Redington (ex- Doric String Quartet).
Recent competition awards include First Prize at the Wolfe Wolfinson Prize and Second Prize at the Nina Drucker Haydn String Quartet Competition at the Royal Academy of Music.
The ensemble have received invitations to perform at the International Music Festival Vitoria-Gasteiz, Ad Manaurem Chamber Music Masterclass led by Johannes Meissl and a residency at Ferrandou Musique. They recently performed Ades’ ‘The Four Quarters’ quartet in a masterclass for Thomas Ades and collaborated with Alasdair Beatson on Brahms’ Piano Quintet at a Chamber Studio event at Kings Place. In July 2026 the quartet were invited to attend the Delft Music Academy 2026, where they received coaching from Donald Grant and Pavel Fischer.
The quartet look forward to a residency at the Chamber Studio Hans Keller forum in September, and returning to Brompton Cemetery, St James’ Sussex Gardens and Winchester Cathedral this autumn.
