About ChamberStudio

ChamberStudio provides coaching and support to emerging professional chamber musicians. Our programmes deliver the highest level of specialised training tailored to each ensembles needs, creating an inspiring and nurturing community for musicians focusing on chamber music as a central part of their career. Our work is open to the public to observe, and our mission is to sustain and nourish the future of chamber music, and to promote it as an accessible and great artform.

ChamberStudio was founded in 2010 by Artistic Director/CEO Richard Ireland. What started as a one-man mission quickly developed to become the established organisation it is today where many of the world’s finest chamber musicians come to teach.

ChamberStudio is indebted to Kings Place Music Foundation for their support and generous provision of space for our masterclasses from the start.

The really great thing about ChamberStudio at the stage we’re at in our musical and career development is being able to access this kind of feedback...We left the program feeling rejuvenated and inspired.

As busy working musicians, it can be so hard to find that vital time where we can work in depth with more experienced player and teachers. Over the past 12 months ChamberStudio’s uniquely flexible setup has allowed us to study in intensive, enlightening bursts with the wonderful Alasdair Beatson across most of the key repertoire for our combination. We also had the opportunity to meet and work with Rita Wagner, with whom we spent a stimulating and joyous 3-hour session on Stravinsky’s Soldier’s Tale Suite. All of these sessions have fed and continue to feed invaluably into our rehearsals together and into our performance.

Our Residency helped us to completely refresh our approach...leaving us with a renewed vigour and enthusiasm...and introduced us to ways of rehearsing and working together which now permeate every rehearsal.
